1.The Gates Millennium Scholarship Program:

The Gates Millennium Scholars are the most prestigious scholarship program for African-American, Latino/a and Native American high school seniors.The Gates Millennium Scholarship Program is a scholarship program offered by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to students from around the world. The Gates Millennium Scholars Program provides full scholarships to four outstanding college students each year. This program not only provides these students with an opportunity to attend college but also allows them to study in the United States.

2.The Truman Scholarship:

The Truman Scholarships are awarded to outstanding graduate students in science and public service programs.The Truman Scholarship Program accepts applications from high school seniors who have been accepted into a selective college or university in the U.S., Canada or abroad. Eligible applicants must have a minimum 3.5 GPA (on a 4-point scale) and demonstrate financial need based on data provided by the applicant’s school or the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The scholarship covers tuition, fees, room and board expenses; books; transportation; personal insurance; and other educational costs related to attending graduate or professional school in the United States.

3.The Goldwater Scholarship Program:

The Goldwater Scholars Program awards one $25,000 scholarship to each of 64 students who have been nominated by their colleges or universities to receive this award because of their academic excellence, leadership potential and commitment to community service.

The Goldwater Scholarship Program USA is the largest scholarship program for underrepresented minorities in the United States. The program provides scholarships each year to undergraduate students who have worked hard to overcome the odds and overcome their own personal challenges.

  • The Goldwater Scholarship Program USA is a merit-based award that provides financial assistance to students who meet certain criteria, including:
  • A high school grade point average of 3.5 or higher
  • At least one year of post secondary education completed by June 30 of the award year (a total of no more than 30 credit hours)
  • A declaration of intention to enroll as an undergraduate student at an eligible institution in fall of the award year (at least half-time status)
  • Demonstrated financial need based on demonstrated financial need determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

4.The Udall-Levin Graduate Fellowship Program:

This program provides fellowship support for doctoral degree projects related to environmental protection and sustainable development in developing countries.

The fellowship is open to citizen of the United States who are pursuing a doctorate degree in any field of study at an accredited U.S. institution. Applicants must have completed their first year of eligible graduate study at an accredited university and have received their initial PhD.D., M.D., J.D., LL M or other terminal degree in any field of study from a U.S.-accredited institution.

  • Fellowships are awarded on the basis of merit and need; however, financial need may be considered as an additional factor if the following conditions are met:
  • The applicant must be a citizen of the United States;
  • The applicant must be an alien who has been lawfully admitted to the United States through either official or diplomatic channels;
  • The applicant must have received his/her initial PhD.D

5.The Russ & Helen Walzer Foundation Grants:

The foundation supports innovative projects that improve the quality of life for people living on Indian reservations in the US through scientific research and education, health services, economic development programs and community development initiatives.

The Russ & Helen Walzer Foundation Grants are for students who have demonstrated a commitment to social justice and equity. This scholarship is available for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students. There is no age limit to apply for these awards.

  • To be eligible for the Russ & Helen Walzer Foundation Grants, applicants must:
  • Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher.
  • Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Show evidence of successful community service participation through an approved community service organization or program.
  • Show evidence of leadership achievements in extracurricular activities or in their career development plans.

In addition to meeting the above criteria, applicants must attend an interview at the University of California-Berkeley campus in Berkeley, California after submitting their application online. A separate application must be completed for each scholarship program you wish to apply for (i.e., undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral).

6.The Charles Stewart Mott Foundation Grant Program:

The Charles Stewart Mott Foundation Grant Program is a highly competitive, merit-based program that offers support to innovative and entrepreneurial students. The Foundation provides grants to current undergraduate and graduate students at accredited universities who are devoting themselves to improving their communities through civic engagement, service learning and research.

The Mott Foundation also awards grants to individuals with disabilities who are working toward a degree in social work or related fields. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, demonstrate financial need and be pursuing programs that prepare them for careers in social work or similar fields.

7.Teach For America Teacher Fellowships and Corps memberships

The Teach For America Teacher Fellowships and Corps memberships are highly competitive. In order to be considered you must apply through your college or university and meet the requirements of each program.

  • Teach For America is a national nonprofit organization that recruits recent college graduates to teach in high-need public schools across the country for two years. TFA recruits its teachers from its corps members, who receive full-time salaries, living stipends, health insurance and retirement benefits.
  • Teachers who earn their master’s degree through the National Math & Science Initiative (NMSI) are eligible to apply for NMSI fellowships. The NMSI provides master’s degrees in mathematics, computer science and statistics for teachers who want to teach in high-need schools.

8.Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) Program

The Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) Program is a multi-year, multi-university program designed to recognize outstanding mathematics and science teachers who have demonstrated a high level of commitment to the profession, leadership in their communities, and the ability to inspire students. The PAEMST Program is administered by the National Research Council (NRC).

The PAEMST Program is open to all public elementary and secondary school teachers who teach mathematics or science at grades K-12. Applicants must hold an active teaching certificate from an accredited institution and currently be employed as a teacher at an institution of higher education in the United States. Candidates must also have completed or be enrolled in continuing professional development activities that focus on their teaching effectiveness.

9.National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program

The National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP) is a highly competitive program that supports researchers at all stages of their careers. The NSF provides grants to individuals who propose novel, creative, and highly productive research projects that are a significant contribution to the frontiers of knowledge.

The NSF GRFP provides up to $3 million per year for three years in support of new Ph.D.-level graduate students at U.S. colleges and universities. The fellowship provides full tuition, fees and other educational costs (as well as a monthly stipend) for the duration of the research project. Students may also receive a living allowance while they complete their degree at an institution other than where they received their M.D., DDS or equivalent degree; however, no more than $45,000 per year may be used for living expenses (up to $10,000 if pursuing dentistry research).
